“A Deceived Generation”

(Proverbs 30:12) “There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.”

“Often we do not see problems in our own lives, though we can be quite skilled at detecting the problems of others.” “To properly judge ourselves, we must be diligent students of the Bible and apply what we read to our lives.” (A WORD TO THE WISE — Paul Chappell)

As hard as it is, we have to quit trying to be like the Jones’ and stop continually comparing ourselves with those around us. Our hearts are in the wrong place, focused on the wrong treasure (Matthew 6:21)! Our goal is not to be like other sinners, that would be like two inmates on death row arguing over who’s better than the other! We are all flawed, in many ways, so if we want to be like someone, why not set our goal high (Colossians 3:2)? Why not shoot for the stars, or better yet — Heaven?

I remember playing sports as a teenager, and I can’t recall wanting to be like another player on my team. I wanted to be like Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, or Pele! If you were like me, you dreamed about and desired to be the best. Don’t hoot and holler because we may be better than the person standing next to us. As a Christian and follower of Jesus Christ we all should strive for the same goal. Personally, I want to be as Christ like as I can become. How about you?

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭KJV
